The first in a series of new podcasts focusing on the golden eras of Hip Hop, Roots Reggae, Dancehall & Funk. Each episode will go back to a time in a specific genre when the tunes were flowing, classic after classic. It's been well over a decade since I've done a Hip Hop mix & recently I decided that it was the right time to take things back to where they started for me. I've been so busy on the Reggae & Dancehall tip over that time that the music I grew up on was left to one side. So dropping towards the end of the year will be the first in a series of Podcasts "The Hip Hop Archives".
The first episode will focus on the 1993-1996 period as I thought this would be a good place to start but through the series I'll be spinning tunes from the birth of Hip Hop on wax in the late 70's & early 80's right through to the late 90's. Each episode will run for 2 hours & concentrate on a specific time during the Golden Era Of Hip Hop. "Representin' It's Illmatic".

This Sunday, Roots Manuva brings back The Banana Klan & his bass heavy series of Dub College nights for a Carnival reunion at The Book Club in Shoreditch, London. Previous sessions have been jam packed & this is gonna be a roadblock for sure. Featuring Roots Manuva himself doing a rare DJ set & his Banana Klan family, along with suprise special guests bringing the Sound System vibes this is one not to be missed! BOMBIN' (1987)

RHYME AND REASON (1997)

Rhyme & Reason is a 1997 documentary film about rap and hip hop. The filmmaker interviewed over 80 significant artists in rap and hip hop music. Rappers, such as Kurtis Blow, KRS-One and Chuck D, to west coast rap icons Ice-T, Dr. Dre, and MC Eiht, to several current rap hitmakers, including Wu-Tang Clan, The Fugees, and Sean "Puffy" Combs were interviewed.
